Function-oriented process organization
In the function-oriented process organization , the principle of division of labor prevails .
An overall task, for example processing an incoming invoice, is divided into subtasks for time and cost optimization and for rationalizing the overall process.
The disadvantages of such a function-oriented process organization are included
- a high degree of specialization
- cross-departmental processing
- a high coordination effort
- the time delay caused by transport and communication between the departments / employees involved
- the ignorance of employees about tasks other than theirs
The functional process organization is opposed to the newer model of the operational process organization (the business process ).
