GELI-Modellbau is an Austrian company that produces cardboard model building sheets for the production of civil and military aircraft on a scale of 1:33.

history

1954 came for the first time model building sheets under the name "GELI-Modellbau Gertud Litscher" on the market. Karl Wittrich was the draftsman and designer of the arches. The first sheets still had the name "Gertraud Litscher" as a lettering on the underside of the models. Soon afterwards the arches came out under the name GELI-TECHNICAL MODEL ARCH. By 2005, 65 models penned by Karl Wittrich had appeared. The sheets were drawn and printed by hand in the house of Gertrud Litscher and Karl Wittrich in Klagenfurt . In 2005, Karl Wittrich stopped his activity for health reasons, initially without giving up the brand name or the means of production.

In 2011 the brand name and the property rights including the entire production environment were taken over by a team from the paper and graphics industry. In addition to the models that have already appeared, there were also several previously unpublished works by Wittrich in the inventory. To distinguish it from the bows originally published by Wittrich, the newly produced bows were called "GELI Classic". From 2016 extensively restored arches will be offered again under the name "GELI".

Models

The product range was numbered according to the release dates of the models; one to two models have been added each year over the duration of GELI's existence. The GELI models No. 58, 59, 61, 67 and 68 have not yet appeared. Among the newly released models is a Fokker E-III from Karl Wittrich (GELI No. 71). In 2011, the Alpha Jet, announced in older price lists as # 55, appeared under numbers 72 and 73 in two different color variants - on the one hand in the prototype paint and on the other hand in the paint of the JaboG 41. From 2016 the previously unpublished models GELI No. 74 Douglas A-4F Skyhawk will be available and GELI No. 75 Blue Angels Douglas A-4F Skyhawk.
