history
Graco was founded as the Gray Company in 1926 to manufacture air operated grease guns . Sales in the first year of operation amounted to 35,000 US dollars . By 1941, annual sales were around a million dollars. During the Second World War they took advantage of an opportunity for defense reasons because of the need for lubricants . After the war, they began developing outside of lubricant manufacturing, developing a paint pump and powered pumps for industrial fluids. By the mid-1950s, they had grown to $ 5 million in sales and 400 employees, and oversaw fluid handling in a variety of industries. From 1962 to 1985 David A. Koch was President of the company. In 1969 he floated the Gray Company , shortening the name.
In 1999 Böllhoff Verfahrenstechnik was bought. In 2011 Graco acquired the brands Binks, DeVilbiss, Evercoat, Gema , Hosco and Ransburg from Illinois Tool Works .
