GRiDPad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GRiDPad from GRiD Systems was one of the first tablet computers to be operated with a pen. It was manufactured by Samsung for GRiD Systems Corporation in 1989.

The tablet was derived from the PenMaster from Samsung, which did not get beyond the prototype stage. The device, measuring 29.2 × 23.6 × 3.7 cm, had a 10 MHz 80C86 processor with DOS, a CGA display (640 × 400 pixels) and a battery-backed RAM memory of 256 or 512 Kbytes . The price at the time was $ 2,370 without software. The software was an in-house development by GRiD with text recognition that enabled writing on the screen with a pen. An external keyboard could be connected by cable.

The tablet should be used in warehouse management, police, in hospitals and other data acquisition activities.
