Gabriele Kokott-Weidenfeld (born May 1, 1948 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and grammar school in modern languages, she passed the Abitur in 1966 . Studying law and political science in Mainz and Bonn was followed by the first state examination in 1971 and the second state examination in 1976 . From 1972 to 1973 she worked in research at the University of Bonn. After completing her legal traineeship, she worked as a government advisor at the Mainz-Bingen district administration and as a judge at the Koblenz Administrative Court . In 1978 she became professor of law in the social work department at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences . She had other teaching positions at the EWH and the VWA Rhineland-Palatinate as well as at the HfP and LMU in Munich .

Kokott-Weidenfeld is married to the political scientist and political advisor Werner Weidenfeld .

Political party

Gabriele Kokott-Weidenfeld has been a member of the CDU since 1965. She was district chairwoman of the JU and district chairwoman of the Women's Union . From 1983 to 1987 she was chairwoman of the Federal Committee on Youth Policy of the CDU. She was a member of the youth mission for the future and in the federal media policy committee of the CDU federal executive committee . In Koblenz she was district chairwoman of the Women's Union Koblenz-Montabaur and a member of the CDU district executive.

Gabriele Kokott-Weidenfeld was elected for the first time in the state elections in 1983 in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and was a member of it for three terms from May 18, 1983 to May 19, 1996. In the 10th electoral term, she was a secretary and member of the Committee on Social Affairs and Health, Media Policy, the Legal Committee and the Election Review Committee. In the 11th electoral term she was chairman of the committee for women's issues and a member of the council of elders and the media policy committee. In the 12th period she was a member of the Committee on Women's Issues, the Committee on Science, Education and Training, the Media Policy Committee and the Intermediate Committee. From August 1989 to March 1994 she was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

In 1994 she was a member of the 10th Federal Assembly .

Other engagement

She was a member of the State Youth Welfare Committee, the Youth Welfare Committee of the City of Koblenz, the Board of Trustees of the State Center for Political Education , the Board of Trustees of the Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture, the Board of Directors of the Working Group for Youth Welfare in Bonn and member of the assembly and chairman of the Legal and Admissions Committee of State headquarters for private broadcasting in Rhineland-Palatinate .
