Gabriele Schaumann

Gabriele Ellen Schaumann (* 1965/66) is a German chemist and environmental scientist from the University of Koblenz-Landau .

Gabriele Schaumann graduated from the Albert Einstein High School in Ulm in 1985. She then studied chemistry at the University of Ulm and received her PhD in soil chemistry in 1998 from the Technical University (TU) Berlin, where she was first a research assistant and then a research assistant at the Institute for Technical Environmental Protection. She completed her habilitation in 2006 and was granted an academic license to teach environmental and soil chemistry. In 2006 she was appointed to a professorship for organic chemistry and environmental chemistry at the University of Koblenz-Landau. In 2008 she moved from the Koblenz campus to Landau, where she teaches as a professor for environmental and soil chemistry. She has been Vice President of the University of Koblenz-Landau since April 2017.

Schaumann is the spokesperson for the Germany-wide research group INTERNANO, which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and investigates the effects of nanoparticles on the environment. In the trilateral cooperation project OLIVEOIL funded by the DFG, she is leading a scientifically and socio-culturally connecting international research project in cooperation with Israeli and Palestinian working groups, which works on making the toxic waste water from the production of olive oil usable as fertilizer. Your research interests are soil and interface chemistry, water repellency, SOM-water interactions, microgel aggregate stabilization, soil-plant interactions, biogeochemical interfaces, organic soil matter, binding and bioavailability of organic chemicals as well as fate and effects of artificially produced nanoparticles in soil and Water.
