Gammelholm (Eng. "Old Island") is a residential area in the city center of Copenhagen . It is bounded by the Nyhavn Canal, Kongens Nytorv, Holmens Canal, Niels Juels Gade and the waterfront along the Havnegade.

For centuries the area was the seat of the Royal Naval Shipyard, known as Bremerholm , but after the relocation of naval operations to Nyholm there was a change in the 1860s and 1870s. The new district was planned by Ferdinand Meldahl and was also known as "Meldahl's Nine Streets". The area is characterized by a homogeneous historicist architecture, which consists of rows of blocks with richly decorated facades.
