Ganglioneuroblastoma histology

The ganglioneuroblastoma (formerly also known as malignant ganglioneuroma ) is a rare tumor of the nervous system, the differentiation of which is to be classified between neuroblastoma and ganglioneuroma. Most tumors are located in the trunk, especially in the retroperitoneal space along the sympathetic ganglia on both sides of the spine or the posterior mediastinum . The tumors can often calcify.

morphology

A distinction is made between two forms: the Schwannzell-stroma-rich (imperfect) variant with all levels of neuronal differentiation, and the mixed form of Schwann-cell-stroma-rich and Schwann-cell-stroma-poor parts, or immature variant. The latter variant has a slightly poorer clinical prognosis.

Differential diagnosis

In particular, the tumor must be differentiated from the differentiating neuroblastomas.
