Gebr. Brasseler GmbH & Co. KG is a German company in the medical technology sector with headquarters in Lemgo in North Rhine-Westphalia . The main product range consists of instruments for the dental , dental and surgical fields.
Companies
The family company Gebr. Brasseler with its Komet brand was founded in 1923 in Düsseldorf by Peter Brasseler and his brothers. After the destruction of the company premises due to the effects of the war, the move to Lemgo / Brake followed in 1943 and then in 1958 the move to today's production site in Lemgo. Since then, Gebr. Brasseler has manufactured its products exclusively in Lemgo. There are 1,150 employees at the headquarters there, 1,350 people belong to the company worldwide.
Gebr. Brasseler is regarded as an innovation leader for rotating instruments and systems in the dental sector and has also established itself as one of the most well-known suppliers in general surgery, dental technology and the custom made sector. In addition, Gebr. Brasseler uses its know-how for the production of tools for the jewelry industry.
The company Gebr. Brasseler sells its products under the brand name Komet (see business areas). The brand name Komet was created during the tinkering of founder Peter Brasseler senior. When the material was abraded, the rotating instruments produced a tail when viewed in light, similar to the tail of a comet in the sky. That was the hour of birth of the Komet brand name and the background for its implementation in the company logo.
Peter Brasseler also "invented" direct sales in the dental industry. In Germany, customers have always been successfully addressed with their own sales force, in over 110 countries worldwide sales are carried out through subsidiaries, including in France, Italy, Austria and the USA, and / or through trading partners in the country itself.
history
The dental drill factory Gebr. Brasseler with the brand Komet and the distinctive logo in Düsseldorf was founded in 1923 by Peter Brasseler. As a result of the Second World War , the company premises were destroyed in 1943 and they moved to Lemgo / Brake. 15 years later, the company moved to its current location on Trophagener Weg. A new building was moved into in 1972 for the manufacture of diamonds. Komet France was founded in Paris in 1977. A central administration building was built in 1983. The sales company Komet Italia is founded in Milan in 1986. In 1988 the Komet Medical division is founded. The training and education center and the central research laboratory were completed in 1997. The logistics center was moved into in 1999. In 2001 the new "Jewelery" product area was created. The Komet Austria sales company was founded in Salzburg in 2002. We moved into a new building with an additional 3000 m² production area. The company expanded into the USA in 2007 and founded the Komet USA sales company there. In 2008 a new sales office was opened in China - Brasseler DMI (Shanghai) Ltd. A 2000 m² was built in 2012 for the logistics and packaging area. The Custom Made division was founded in 2013. Gebr. Brasseler is investing € 30 million from 2015 to 2017 in the expansion of the headquarters in Lemgo.
Business areas
The network of different business areas with their different focuses is unique worldwide. The business areas, also known as Komet Business Units, include Dental, Medical, Custom Made and Jewelery.
The Komet Dental brand was launched in 1923 by the Brasseler brothers. Under this name, Gebr. Brasseler has been selling the world's largest manufacturer of rotary instruments and systems for dentists, dental technicians, oral, facial and oral surgeons and orthodontists since 1923.
For the Komet Medical segment, Gebr. Brasseler has been developing and manufacturing motor-driven precision tools for use in surgical drive systems since 1988.
In 2013, the Custom Made industrial area was created. This business unit offers tailor-made solutions for major companies in the dental industry that sell products developed and manufactured in Lemgo under their own names.
The basis for the Komet Jewelery division was laid in 2001. The rotating precision tools from Komet are particularly valued when it comes to the finest processing of precious materials: in jewelry production.

Gebr. Brasseler is one of the most important employers in Lemgo. The family company takes its social and entrepreneurial responsibility very seriously and is known for its excellent training and further education offers. Many of the former trainees have taken on a responsible job in the company after completing their training and work as specialists or managers.
