Spiritual concert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A large part of the shorter sacred musical works of the 17th century is called a sacred concert . Solid forms such as the cantata were still in the development phase at the time.

The stylistic and formal roots of the sacred concert lie on the one hand in the monody , on the other hand in the traditional motet .

The composers of such works include Heinrich Schütz , Samuel Scheidt , Dietrich Buxtehude and older members of the Bach family .
