Generic Access Profile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Generic Access Profile (GAP) is the basic signaling protocol for cordless telephony using Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT).

The specification from the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) describes which procedures should be used for the interoperability of devices from different manufacturers. Little is compulsory in GAP. The usual Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP), for example, remains optional.

There are some other profiles for DECT from the ETSI.
