Gento

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gento (also Genzo ) was the youngest son of the Vandal King Geiseric . The late antique sources do not tell very much about him, but he was a naval commander under his father. In 468 he was successful in the attack of the Roman fleet and was able to board the enemy warship with the legate Johannes . Gento promised Johannes an honorable imprisonment, but he preferred to jump into the sea.

Gento died fighting before the year 477. He had at least four children, of whom Gunthamund and Thrasamund became kings of the Vandals.
