Geological Society of India

The Geological Society of India (GSI) is a society founded in 1958 to promote geology in India .

The GSI was founded in 1958 on the initiative of geology professor L. Rama Rao in Bangalore with the doyen of the Indian geologist DN Wadia as the first president. She received official recognition from the Indian government in New Delhi in 1959. In addition to ordinary members, there is fellow status (to which one must be appointed) and honorary fellows.

You publish the journal Journal of the Geological Society of India , which has been published since 1959 (then with L. Rama Rao as editor). It was initially published as a yearbook, and for faster publications there was a bulletin until 1969, and every quarter from 1970. The GSI also publishes other series of publications and organizes symposia and workshops.
