George Smitherman
George Smitherman (* 1964 in Weston , York, Ontario ) is a Canadian politician of the Ontario Liberal Party .
Life
As a member of Parliament, Smitherman sat from June 3, 1999 to January 4, 2010 in the Ontario Parliament. From September 21, 2006 to November 8, 2009 he was Deputy Prime Minister of the Province of Ontario. From June 20, 2008 to November 8, 2009, he was Minister for Energy and Infrastructure in the Canadian province of Ontario.
He is a member of the Ontario Liberal Party . In 2010 he lost the Toronto mayoral election to Rob Ford . Smitherman is married to Christopher Peloso and lives in Toronto.
