history
Germantown High School (GHS), in Gluckstadt, is one of eleven public school facilities that function as a secondary school. The school opened in August 2011 as part of the Madison County School District. The Madison County School District is one of the fastest growing school districts in the US state of Mississippi.
School life
The school advertises a strong college prep curriculum, which includes a variety of school programs. For example, sports teams for 18 different university sports. There is also a university band, dance programs and more than 20 other school clubs that are freely available to students at Germantown High School.
The school also has a partnership with the Holmes Community College in Goodman , Mississippi. This partnership allows academically qualified school seniors who participate in a dual enrollment program to spend parts of their day on each campus and take college-level courses.

During the 2014-2015 school year, there were approximately 950 students enrolled at Germantown High School. The number of students with non-European origins at the school is around 37%. The proportion of female students studying at the school is around 49%, while 51% are male.

Team sports
Germantown High School and its teams, also known as "Mavericks", operate a total of 18 different university sports. These include American football, baseball, golf, soccer, cross country running, athletics, volleyball, tennis, swimming, and bowling. In addition, the school also offers sports to practice that are rarely recognized as university sports. These sports would include powerlifting and team dancing.

The German High School Band once went to Georgia to compete on a national level and ultimately won against their competition. With this victory, the band from Germantown High School won the tournament in the Southern Star competition. In the 2014 Marching season of the Germantown band, the Germantown band took second place.
