Speed warning system

A speed warning system ( GWA for short ) is a technical device on the roadside that is used to inform the vehicle driver of an applicable speed limit in the event of excessive driving speed . The speed being driven is recorded by a sensor and the corresponding traffic sign lights up if the speed is exceeded by a defined amount. These systems are not used for traffic monitoring and should not be confused with speed indicators .
