Gilbert de Turberville (nobleman, † before 1349)

Gilbert de Turberville (also Gilbert IV de Turberville ) († before 1349) was an English nobleman.

Gilbert de Turberville came from the Turberville family , who had been among the most important vassals of the Lords of Glamorgan in Southeast Wales since the early 12th century . He was a son of Payn III de Turberville , who died in 1327 at the latest. From him he inherited Coity Castle and other possessions in the Welsh Marches . In 1336 Turberville was able to reacquire Llandimore on Gower , which his ancestors had acquired around 1219. In 1337 he was appointed lifelong administrator of Cardigan Castle and Cardiganshire . In 1346 he took part in the siege of Calais . Under him, the expansion of Coity Castle begun by his father was completed.

Turberville married Cicely , a daughter of John, Lord Beauchamp of Hache . With her he had at least one son, Gilbert V . He inherited his possessions, but died childless in 1350. Richard II de Turberville , a brother of Gilbert IV, inherited the family's estates.
