Gilles Schaeffer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gilles Schaeffer is a French mathematician who studies combinatorics .

Gilles Schaeffer received her doctorate in 1998 from the University of Bordeaux under Robert Cori (Conjugaison d'arbres et cartes combinatoires aléatoires) . He is Research Director of the CNRS and Professor at the École Polytechnique .

He deals with counting combinatorics, applications of combinatorics in topology and geometry and the analysis of algorithms.

In 2007 he received the European Prize in Combinatorics .
