Global Certification Forum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Global Certification Forum (abbreviation: GCF ) is an interest group of mobile phone manufacturers, mobile network operators and test service providers.

It is linked to the global GSM association as well as the standardization organization European Institute for Telecommunications Standards (ETSI) and the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The aim of the community is to ensure the functionality of mobile phones according to the GSM or UMTS standard by performing standardized tests and then certifying the device. The motto of the GCF is: English “Tested once… accepted by all!” (German: "Tested once ... accepted by everyone!")

Parallel to the GCF there is the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB), which performs the same tasks for the North American region.
