Contrary to what the name suggests, Gnome MPlayer is not a Gnome program. Rather, the name is intended to express that it complies with the user interface guidelines of the Gnome project. Gnome MPlayer itself is only a GTK + - frontend for MPlayer . Like most multimedia player, he also includes a web browser - Plug-in in Netscape format.
Since it is based on the free multimedia player MPlayer, in contrast to GStreamer- based multimedia players such as Totem or Parole , it can use VDPAU for hardware-accelerated playback of films.
