Gofer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gofer is a functional programming language that is based on Haskell .

Gofer has some experimental extensions compared to Haskell, especially in the area of type classes. However, other important features of Haskell are missing, for example no modules are supported.

The language is hardly used these days. The last version of the Gofer interpreter was published in 1994 . There was a Haskell 98 compatible successor called Hugs 98, which, in addition to the Haskell 98 standard, supports the typical Gofer extensions and is no longer maintained today.

Internet protocol

Because it has the same name, despite the different spelling, it can easily be confused with Gopher , a network and Internet protocol that was used before the WWW began its triumphant advance.
