Gordon Black
Gordon Black - horror thriller from the ghost world was a horror booklet novel series from Marken-Verlag, which ran from 10/1982 to 09/1983.
Plot / characters
Gordon Black is an American lawyer with Scottish ancestry. He works with his partner Hanako Kamara, a half-Japanese woman. His office is on Secound Avenue, facing the UN building. Black's father already had experience with the supernatural. From the very beginning, Gordon Black had magical aids such as the witch dagger Athame and a silver statue of the goddess Aradia . He and his partner also use magic, such as B. Curses to fight the demons.
The series lacked coordination, the novels also differed in nuances in their description and portrayal (which can ultimately always happen with several authors). The authors were not responsible for this fact. More like the editing department, who is responsible for not letting these deviations become too extreme or for smoothing them out. So had z. B. Black's most important weapon, the demon whip, a hollow style for one author and a braided style for another. Hübner's Black was a 'ghost hunter', Rahn called him 'demon slayer'. Even the timing within the series is inconsistent.
Horst W. Huebner explained in the Zauberspiegel: “There were a lot of conversations with authors, they were WA Hary, Otto Birner or someone else, some of them were led past the editor, in this case it was me. This showed that many novels were very individual and little consideration was given to what other authors had written in the previous booklets. There was no continuity, neither in the leadership of the hero figure, nor in the course of the stories. (…) This also explains contradictions between the authors, e. B. that Gordon Black was a lawyer in Volume 1 and a detective in Volume 2. "
