Goth: Wristcut Jiken ( Japanese GOTH リ ス ト カ ッ ト 事件 , Goth: risuto katto jiken ) is a novel by Otsuichi ( 乙 一 ). It was adapted as a manga and a movie.

action

The two main characters are the student Itsuki Kamiyama ( 神山 樹 ), who remains anonymous as a first-person narrator until shortly before the end of the narration, and his classmate Yoru Morino ( 森 野 夜 ). Both have little contact with other young people and are considered outsiders. Itsuki Kamiyama becomes aware of Yoru Morino because of a scar on her wrist that suggests a suicide attempt. He is fascinated by serial killers, their motives and their feelings and tries to solve a series of horrific murders with her, in which the victims' hands are chopped off. You are drawn into more homicide cases, and Yoru Morino is eventually abducted himself. The secret of their past and thus the reason for their closed character are revealed.

The novel consists of the 6 chapters Ankokukei. Goth ( 暗 黒 系 Goth, eng . "Dark type. Goth"), wristcut Jiken. Wristcut ( リ ス ト カ ッ ト 事件 Wristcut, Eng. "Arm joint cut incident. Arm joint cut"), Inu. Dog ( dog, German "dog. Dog"), Kioku. Twins ( 記憶 Twins, Eng. "Memories. Twins"), Tsuchi. Grave ( Grave, Eng. "Earth. Grave") and Koe. Voice ( Voice, Eng. "Voice. Voice").

The novel was first published in Kadokawa Shoten's light novel magazine The Sneaker with illustrations by Kōji Ogata with the peculiarity that it was not published as a light novel, but as a regular novel. On June 25, 2005, the individual chapters were published in two volumes: Goth: Yoru no Shō (GOTH 夜 の 章 , Eng. "Goth: Yorus Band") with the chapters Ankokukei , Inu and Kioku and Goth: Boku no Shō (GOTH 僕 の 章 , German about: "Goth: Ichs Band") with the chapters Wristcut Jiken , Tsuchi and Koe .

Manga

In 2003 it was adapted as a manga by Kendi Oiwa . Appeared in a volume by Kadokawa Shoten. The manga consists of the chapters Wristcut Jiken , Ankokukei , Tsuchi and Kioku , whereby Kioku also contains the Koe chapter of the novel. The Inu chapter of the novel was not adopted.

In 2004 the manga was published in Germany by Egmont Manga and Anime with an embossed cover.

filming

On July 27, 2007, the shooting of a film adaptation began, which was completed after 21 days of shooting on August 18. After the shooting, it was found that the producer Shunsuke Yamada had committed fraud with the film rights. Confronted by director Gen Takahashi , the producer fled and production was halted until spring 2008. Production was finished on May 23, 2008 and the film was released in Japanese cinemas on December 20, 2008.

Itsuki Kamiyama was played by Kanata Hongō and Yoru Morino by Rin Takanashi .

The American director JT Petty announced a US implementation of the material in 2007.
