The Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals , in German "Grammy Award for the best pop performance by a duo or a group with vocals", is a music prize that was awarded from 1966 to 2011 by the American Recording Academy was awarded in the field of pop music .
History and background
Since 1959, the Grammy Awards are presented annually in numerous categories by the Recording Academy in the United States to recognize artistic achievement, technical competence, and overall outstanding performance regardless of album sales or chart position.
One of these categories is the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The prize was awarded from 1966 to 2011 and has seen numerous name changes over the course of its existence:
- From 1966 to 1967 the award was called Grammy Award for Best Contemporary (R&R) Performance - Group (Vocal or Instrumental)
- In 1968 she was in Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Group Performance (Vocal or Instrumental) renamed
- In 1969 it was named Grammy Award for Best Contemporary-Pop Performance - Vocal Duo or Group
- In 1970 the prize was called the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Vocal Performance by a Group
- In 1971 it was renamed the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus
- In 1972 the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo Or Group was given
- From 1973 to 1977 the category was called the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus
- In 1978 she was Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Group called
- In 1979, she was again Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group renamed
- In 1980 it was named Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus
- From 1981 to 2011 it was called the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.
The award was discontinued from 2012 in a major overhaul of the Grammy categories. From 2012 onwards, all duo or group appearances in the pop area were honored in the newly formed Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance category.
A similar award, the Grammy Award for Best Performance by a Vocal Group , was given from 1961 to 1968, but without consideration of pop music.
