Gray mouse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An inconspicuous person, usually female, is referred to as a gray mouse . Another characteristic is the modesty , which can, however, also be pretended. Inconspicuous clothing - which is perceived as gray - often reinforces this image of the person concerned.

In the dictionary of micropolitics it says: “Cultural factors also influence the style of self-expression : In a country where modesty and collectivism are normative, e. B. Japan, assertive self-portrayal will be less common than in a culture where v. a. individual performance counts (e.g. USA). ”Every style is associated with opportunities and risks: a“ gray mouse ”( stealth effect) remains inconspicuous and mostly harmless, but cannot stand out positively either.

In the Bundesliga, VfL Bochum was often referred to as the gray mouse, because although it held the class for over 20 years, it was rarely found in the top field of the table, but mostly fought against relegation.
