The Greek Wikipedia ( English : Greek Wikipedia, Greek : Ελληνική Βικιπαίδεια) is the edition of the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia in Greek. With more than 100,000 articles, it is one of the fifty most comprehensive language versions of Wikipedia.

history

The Greek language Wikipedia was founded on December 1, 2002 as a separate language version. Today (as of June 2020) it comprises 179,357 items. It reached the 100,000 item mark on April 9, 2014.

Timeline

  • On December 1, 2002, the first article in Greek was made freely available to the reader
  • On May 16, 2006, the 10,000th Item discontinued
  • On March 17, 2007, the number of articles had doubled to 20,000
  • On April 10, 2010, the Greek-language version presented 50,000 articles
  • On April 9, 2014, the number of available articles reached 100,000
