The Groupe Hamelin is a French producer of stationery and office products, based in Caen , France .

history

The company was founded in Caen in 1864 by Ernest Hamelin. Initially, the small company mainly produced accounting materials. After the Second World War , the grandson Robert Hamelin took over the company and expanded it. Textbooks and teaching materials were mainly produced. The company has expanded since the 1990s and also produces office supplies and paper goods. Some brands, including the German office supplies manufacturer ELBA (1999) and the British envelope manufacturer John Dickinson Stationery (2005), were taken over. Today the Groupe Hamelin has locations in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia. The company has a total of 27 plants in 9 countries.

Groupe Hamelin produces 200 million articles per year, 60 percent of all exercise books sold in France are produced by the group. The company has over 3,000 employees and in 2010 had a turnover of 600 million euros.
