The Gubyaukgyi Temple (also Kubyaukgyi ) is a Buddhist temple in Bagan -Myinkaba, Myanmar .

history

The temple was built in 1113 by Prince Rajakumar , the son of King Kyanzittha .

description

The main building has a square floor plan; a vestibule has been added to the east, and the building is crowned by a Shikhara .
The central shrine is surrounded by a walkway, the walls of which are covered with paintings from the time the temple was built; they are among the oldest in Bagan. In the shrine itself there are well-preserved representations of the Jatakas , which are documented in the Mon language.
The outer walls are adorned with stucco ornaments with floral motifs; artistically designed stone lattice windows bring light into the walkway.
In the immediate vicinity is the Myazedi Pagoda with the stone of Rosette Burma: a pillar that is inscribed in the languages Mon , Pali , Burmese and Pyu and made it possible to decipher the Pyu script.
