Gutuls, different models

A Gutul (also Gutal ; Mongolian: Монголгутал, Mongolgutal) is a traditional boot from Mongolia .

It is usually made of leather. Classic gutuls are decorated with ornaments, usually with an ulzii , the symbol of longevity. They are worn , among other things, as riding boots or for Mongolian wrestling .

The boots are not quite knee-high and have no heels. The tip is curved upwards. This is possibly due to the Buddhist teaching , with the intention of protecting the soil and injuring fewer small organisms.

Gutuls are traditionally worn in combination with a deel , the typical Mongolian coat.
