Chopper
A shredding machine (short chaff ) is an agricultural machine for comminuting parts of plants (straw, corn etc.) cm into pieces 1-10 size.
The flywheel with two cutting edges is operated by hand and the chopped material is pushed into the wooden box. Depending on the type of machine, the feed is carried out automatically by rollers fitted with curved tines, which rotate in the opposite direction, grasp the straw and push it forward. The blades on the flywheel are bent in such a way that the cutting angle and therefore the resistances in the individual phases of the cut always remain optimal. The shredded plant parts are known as chaff and are used, for example, as fodder or stored for composting or fermentation ( silage ).
