HH2 (Herbig Haro object)
HH2 is a protostellar jet and is cataloged as a Herbig-Haro object . Because the object is part of the Orion Nebula , it is also known as M42-HH2 . The jet was identified as the Herbig Haro property by a team led by Cantó in 1980. In 1988 two knots were found. Furthermore, shocks with speeds of 20 km / s to 180 km / s were identified in the object 2003. HH2 is only one light year away from Herbig-Haro object HH1 , which arise from a common protostar. In total, HH2 is 1500 light years from Earth.
