Port of Gliwice (2019)
The old port in Gliwice

The port in Gliwice is located in the west of the city at ul. Portowa. The inland port dates from the 1930s and replaced the old port in downtown Gleiwitz.

The old port was located north of the old town between Wilhelmstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse and was connected to the Klodnitz Canal . A narrow-gauge railway was connected to the port. The port ceased operations after the completion of the new port.

The new port was built outside the city together with the construction of the Gliwice Canal , which replaced the old Klodnitz Canal. Gleiwitz was connected to the Oder via the Gliwice Canal. The port was put into operation in 1939. The port has two large basins and one smaller basin.
