Hand chain saw

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hand chain saw is a chain saw that is operated by hand , ie with pure muscle power . It essentially only consists of the saw chain. At the end there are usually metal rings to which cords are attached and wooden handles are attached to the ends. The construction can then either be operated by one person, which is much more difficult than with two people standing opposite each other and pulling and pushing alternately as with a classic, stable saw. With the hand chain saw, you can of course only pull at each end. It makes sense to use bidirectional saw teeth that cut in both directions.

The main advantage of the hand chain saw is its small pack size. The saw chain can be rolled up and transported in a flat, round box or something similar. The other components (cord and wooden handles) can be carried in general travel equipment. The hand chain saw is therefore suitable for the outdoor, survival and military sector , where small pack size and weight are important and losses in functionality and ease of use can be accepted.
