Haori-himo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haori-himo (Japanese 羽 織 紐, dt. Ribbon of the formal vest, 紐 = cord, rope, ribbon, strip) is a fringed, woven fastening cord for the Haori . The most formal color is white.

Executions

The Himo is available in a version with small hooks or with loops with which it is attached to the Haori . The Himo with the loops is attached to the loops of the Haori and then tied. The version with the hooks is tied first and then attached to the Haori. The advantage is that you don't always have to open the knot and tie it again. There are different nodes for both versions. The knots of the Himo with the loops are rather easier and therefore quicker to tie. When using the hooks, the knots are a bit more complex, as you only have to hang this Himo to attach it to the Haori.
