Happy Science

Happy Science (幸福 の 科学 Kōfuku-no-Kagaku) ​​is a New Religious Movement that originated in Japan.

Founded in 1986 by Ryuho Okawa (born 1956), the movement quickly developed into one of the largest newer religious communities in Japan. Happy Science's stated goal is to become a global religion. According to the community, there are currently (2013) branches (so-called Shibu ) on all continents in sixty countries. Religious scholars estimated the number of members this year to be between 300,000 and 500,000.
