Harvard Inn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Harvard Inn was a bar in a two-story building on Seaside Walk, Coney Island ( Brooklyn , New York). Guests included famous mobsters such as Frankie Yale and Al Capone (before he went to Chicago ).

Yale opened this bar in 1917 and at times hired Capone as a bouncer and also as a bartender. It is said that Capone committed his first murder at the back of the bar after being molested by a guest who had previously won a lot of money by cheating. Even Johnny Torrio was active in the Harvard Inn as a bartender.

The building was destroyed by fire on January 24, 1925 at 2:30 am.
