Main section head

Main section leaders (HAL) are military sub-unit leaders on board ships of the German Navy who are responsible for a main section of the ship.

The main section leader leads the main section and is subordinate to the first officer of the ship. According to the StAN, officers are usually provided for filling the posts on larger ships ; in other cases, the main sections can also be led by boatmen .

A main section officer and one or more section heads (AL) and a main section boatman (HAB) can be subordinate to the HAL as support.
