Hedemora (chicken)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hedemora chickens are Swedish country chickens that were almost extinct by now. The land plot is named today after the Swedish town of the same name, where it was rediscovered in 1982. It is considered the most northerly Swedish farm fowl and is well adapted to the local climate thanks to its downy plumage . Chickens of this breed were previously widespread and traditionally also used as bridal gifts, but in the 1970s they were almost completely superseded by higher-performing chickens.
