Heidelberg poets' circle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heidelberger Dichterkreis was founded in Heidelberg by the poets Martin Opitz and Balthasar Venator . The group of scholars and writers is considered to be the pioneer of the German language in poetry. Until the group of poets was broken up as a result of the conquest of Heidelberg by Tilly on September 16, 1622, numerous scholars such as Julius Wilhelm Zincgref and Georg Michael Lingelsheim belonged to him.
