Helmuth Plessner Prize

The Helmuth Plessner Prize is a culture award from the city of Wiesbaden .

The prize was donated by the city in 2013 on the initiative of the Helmuth Plessner Society. It is intended to honor Helmuth Plessner , philosopher and sociologist as well as a main exponent of philosophical anthropology , who was born on September 4, 1892 in Wiesbaden and lived there until he was 20. The award serves to promote and recognize outstanding scientists and intellectuals who have worked in the sense of Plessner (in the field of philosophy, sociology, anthropology, biology or aesthetics).

The prize is endowed with 20,000 euros. It has been awarded every three years since 2014 on Plessner's birthday by the City of Wiesbaden in cooperation with the Helmuth Plessner Society.
