Hermanus Smit
Hermanus Smit (also: Harmanus und Smitt ) was a Dutch watchmaker who created high-quality clocks in Amsterdam in the middle of the 17th century , including above all grandfather clocks and pocket watches . He was active from around 1740 to 1760. His grandfather clocks are characterized by particularly splendidly decorated dials and cases . A number of his works are in the collection of the Amsterdam City Museum .
