Hero and Leander (Mare)

Hero and Leander is a story whose author is unknown. It was created at the beginning of the 14th century . Its author was educated and fluent in Latin , as he referred directly to Ovid . The only text witness is Laßberg's Liedersaal handwriting.

The fair is about two lovers who are separated by a sea. Because of his longing Leander dies trying to swim the sea, whereupon Hero takes his own life.

Leander comes from a noble family who have their own empire. Hero, however, lives in the sea on an island. She lives there with her wet nurse in a small castle. Your parents passed away.

The longing for Hero leads Leander to repeatedly venture across the sea to visit Hero. A great love arises.

However, when Leander does not visit Hero once, her heart becomes heavy and she writes him a letter. Leander becomes aware of her suffering and he immediately answers her with another letter. Then he makes his way to Hero. Driven by love, he begins to swim, but just as he is leaving the shore area, it begins to storm. The storm made it difficult for him to swim and because of the rain he couldn't see Hero's signal. After a while he becomes exhausted and desperately begins to pray. Eventually he drowns.

Hero, who receives the news of Leander's death a little later, also collapses dead.
