Historic Environment Scotland is the executive non-departmental public body that takes care of the preservation and care of archaeologically and historically significant sites in Scotland . On October 1, 2015 she succeeded the dissolved organizations Historic Scotland and Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland . Historic Scotland has since been a trademark of Historical Environment Scotland to denote “membership”, which allows free entry to the publicly accessible state-owned monuments. Historic Environment Scotland reports to the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs . The agency manages over 360 historically valuable state-owned objects. Your task is also to scientifically record (inventory) the protected monuments that are published in the list of monuments. The legal process of placing under protection ( called listing ) takes place on application and recommended by Historic Environment Scotland by the responsible minister. A building permit for a listed building ( listed building consent ) is not issued by Historic Environment Scotland , but by the local planning authority . Historic Environment Scotland makes a recommendation on the building application, advises authorities and owners on technical issues and awards grants.
