The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is a church in the Lithuanian parish of Rietavas .

history

The first church in the village was built in 1529. In 1539 the pastor of Rietavas was first mentioned in a document. In 1596 the parish school was built. From 1612 there were metrics books .

In 1721 a new wooden church was built, to which several villages were subordinate from 1820.

In 1846 the construction of a massive church was approved. In 1853, Bishop Motiejus Valančius consecrated the foundation stone for the church, which was completed in 1873.
