Ring gear
Ring gear : In planetary gears the large outer gear ring with internal teeth. It is only in direct mesh with the planet gears. The ring gear is usually the fixed or brakable counter bearing on which the planet gears roll (drive sun gear , output via planetary gear carrier) or it forms the output (drive sun gear, planetary gear carrier braked).
