Hortus Musicus

Hortus Musicus , in German "Musical Garden", is a series of musical notations on house and chamber music from the early baroque to the 19th century.

The first issue reads: “Just as a garden should be well-tended and invite you to stroll, so the Hortus musicus, on which numerous knowledgeable editors collaborate, will only contain valuable music in perfect edition technique and the friends of old music will have a wealth of musical pleasures that can be reached Offer."

The first edition appeared in 1950 with Johann Sebastian Bach's aria Unschuld, Kleinod reiner Seelen . In addition to well-known compositions, it also includes long-forgotten works. Almost all compositions can be played in different ensembles according to the baroque performance practice. Currently (2010) the series comprises around 280 titles.
