As Hotel mode or "Hotel Mode" by some television a special adjustment of the equipment referred -producers which causes certain operations are not accessible or restricted.

Hotel operators, for example, want to prevent that

  • Users exceed a certain volume that disturbs the neighbors
  • a station search is started
  • the programmed station order is changed
  • paid programs can be viewed

For this purpose, the hotel mode is switched on by operating steps, which usually consist of various key combinations on the remote control, or by a security code. Switching off the hotel mode by operating steps cannot be guessed intuitively and cannot be found in the "normal" operating instructions. However, the manufacturers provide information on request if you have accidentally switched on hotel mode. With some Grundig devices, the corresponding menu can be accessed, for example, by disconnecting the device from the power supply and holding down the "P / C" or "i" button on the remote control when switching it back on.

This feature is not only interesting for hotels and guesthouses, parents can also prevent children / young people from programming the device and block unsuitable transmitters in this way. It is also possible to define a standard input (e.g. HDMI 1 ). With many Panasonic devices, this is only possible in hotel mode, which can be switched on by simultaneously pressing buttons on the TV set and on the remote control.
