Starvation stool

Hungry stools are low volume bowel movements that occur frequently and are often caused by malnutrition . It is particularly common in babies .

The stool is usually greenish, slimy and often weighs just a few grams in infants. Its mostly greenish color is caused by excretions from the gallbladder.

Due to the constant breakdown processes in the human body, a minimum amount of stool is produced even without immediate ingestion of food.
