Main areas

The project addresses five main areas. The first main area is devoted to providing guidelines for action for sustainable production. Among other things, it deals with the different life cycles of a product, the evaluation of the technologies used, the work processes and safety in the workplace.

The second area focuses on energy-efficient production. This area highlights environmentally-oriented aspects such as reducing the waste of raw materials and energy in production.

The next area deals with the analysis of new technologies that could significantly influence future developments in the production area.

The fourth work area examines and develops standards with regard to their influence on the further development and improvement of new and existing production processes.

The fifth area examines the topic of further training in the production sector. It promotes various training methods such as e-learning. Furthermore, this area is responsible for organizing the annual "IMS Summer School", which provides its international participants with specialist knowledge in the various IMS work areas at different locations.
