The IPAI-29 Tira Prosa was a development of the Brazilian IPAI, Escola de Engenharia de Sâo Carlos .

History and construction

In the 1980s, aeronautical engineer Dawilson Lucato investigated the use of leading edges and boundary layer fences on short take-off aircraft in slow flight as part of his work on the Escola de Engenharia de Sâo Carlos . After extensive computer calculations, Dawilson Lucato began building an airplane to test the calculations in practice. The aircraft project was named IPAI-29 Tira Prosa and the necessary planning work began. The aircraft was designed as a shoulder-wing wing with double tail girders and consisted of a wooden structure that was partially planked with plywood or covered with fabric. Composite materials were also used. The machine should have had a fixed tail wheel chassis, as well as a jacketed screw and would have been powered by a modified Honda-CB-BRE400 with 35 kW. Although 1981 was planned as the time for the first flight, work on the prototype dragged on due to limited resources, so that it was finally stopped completely.
